New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo has announced the state is working to increase its use of renewable energy and combat climate change.

Under the “50 by 30” plan, New York would source 50 percent of its electricity from clean energy sources by 2030. Several states, including Hawaii, California, Vermont and Oregon have announced similar plans. In the case of Hawaii, the state aims to bring its renewable portfolio standards to 100 percent by 2045.
