The Su Scioffu installation is located in Sardinia in Italy. It is already considered to be one of the largest installations on greenhouse roofs. With an installed capacity of 20 MW, it will also generate 26 gigawatt hours per year (GWh), enough electricity to meet the annual needs of 10,000 homes. As part of this project, 84,399 polycrystalline Trina Solar modules were installed, each with a power output of between 230 and 240 W, on the 100,000 square metres of roofing on the greenhouse.

This green initiative will also avoid the annual emission of nearly 25,000 tonnes of CO2 into the atmosphere. All of this is placed on the roof of the installation, without the need to occupy any building land. The project was completed in just four months, a record time for connecting the 134 greenhouses of this huge installation that transmits power to the grid. The installation was developed by EPC GES Global Energy Services with financial support from Moser Baer Clean Energy Limited (MBCEL) and General Electric who chose Trina Solar polycrystalline modules for their reliability and quality and have a linear power guarantee for 25 years.

The project has also helped to reduce unemployment through the creation of a hundred jobs.
