This greenhouse for organic citrus has an integrated monitoring system that remotely controls the photovoltaic plant and the microclimate parameters needed for the crop's development. Thanks to this, the investment, which is intended to make use of the structure's roof, has turned out to be very profitable and environmentally friendly.

The project, developed by Soltec's R&D&I department, needed to make organic farming compatible with photovoltaic solar energy production. A multi-tunnel structure was designed for the ventilation and climate control systems, and a truss-type structure was adapted to integrate Trina Solar's TSM-PC05 multicrystalline photovoltaic modules. Thanks to its sturdy construction and the 134 Danfoss TLX+ 15 kW solar inverters, additional structures did not need to be built. These modules protect agricultural production from irradiation, heavy rains, fluctuations in soil humidity, insects, fungi and low temperatures due to wind chill. I

n addition, they produce 3,126,528 kWh of electricity annually. Compared to electricity from coal or natural gas, the solar project eliminates 3,126,528 (coal) and 1,250,611 (natural gas) kg of CO2 each year, an amount equivalent to 2,379 cars or more than 26 million kilometres travelled.
