Valcasado Solar Park
Huelva, Spain
UtilityIn the sun-drenched region of Huelva, Spain, the Valcasado Solar Park is harnessing the power of renewable energy with a 22 MW capacity. Developed by Elmya, a leader in the renewable energy sector, this innovative project highlights the potential of solar power in arid climates, delivering clean energy to the municipality of San Juan del Puerto.
The installation includes 33,600 bifacial Trinasolar modules, mounted on 580 state-of-the-art Vanguard 1P trackers. This technology ensures optimal energy capture by allowing the panels to follow the sun's path, thus maximising efficiency. The site’s relatively flat topography, coupled with slight slopes of up to 15% north-south and 10% east-west, provides favourable conditions for solar energy generation and enhances the stability of the installation.
The dry, cracked soil characteristic of the area underscores the need for resilient infrastructure. Robust construction techniques and durable materials have been employed to withstand these arid conditions, ensuring that the solar park operates smoothly year-round.
With its large-scale capacity and advanced technology, Valcasado Solar Park not only exemplifies innovation in solar energy but also contributes significantly to Spain’s renewable energy landscape. By generating clean, sustainable power, it plays a vital role in advancing Spain’s energy transition and reducing its carbon footprint.
