Trina Solar webinar on Challenges and Opportunities for PV Self-Consumption
2016.05.26

Webinar on 31 May to help installers make the most of self-consumption

Trina Solar Limited (NYSE: TSL) ("Trina Solar" or the "Company"), a global leader in photovoltaic ("PV") modules, is to host a webinar to educate installers on the next big thing in PV, self-consumption, on Tuesday 31 May 2016 at 16:00 CEST / 15:00 BST / 10:00 CLT. Entitled PV Self-Consumption: Challenges and Opportunities the webinar will see matter expert Stefan Ringbeck from Trina Solar discuss the determining factors on self-consumption and provide valuable insights on how to make a success of installations.

Hosted by Trina Solar’s Product Manager, Europe & Africa, Stefan Ringbeck, the English language webinar will help installers better understand the self-consumption model and how it is impacted by regional factors, learn about payback time and opportunities for different load scenarios.

In particular, the webinar will look at:

  • Sun height and irradiation for different locations and how this can impact system designs
  • Load profile examples related to different system designs and energy harvest
  • Levelised cost of electricity (LCoE) and payback time examples

Subsidies for generating electricity from solar PV installations are on a defined downward curve in some markets (such as the UK), and have already been eliminated entirely in others (such as Germany). While electricity costs are increasing, continual improvements to technology, manufacturing processes, and the supply chain are all contributing to making module costs more competitive. As these trends continue, self-consumption will become much more attractive than feeding the energy generated by domestic and commercial installations into the grid.

Self-generation and consumption solar projects bring with them significant benefits and are key to reducing carbon emissions and saving energy costs – and making the investment case for PV increasingly depends on maximising self-consumption. But there are a number of key factors that need to be considered if this is to be successful, from climate and energy usage demands to the legislative framework, which obviously changes from region to region.
