Trinasolar, a global leader in smart photovoltaic and energy storage solutions, has been assigned an ESG Entity Rating of 2 with an entity score of 81 by Sustainable Fitch, a subsidiary of the global financial information service provider Fitch Group. This rating not only signifies the highest score within global solar panel manufacturer but also as the top score among all rated companies in the Asia-Pacific region.
Sustainable Fitch’s ESG Ratings assess an entity’s performance across environmental, social, and governance dimensions on a scale of 1 to 5, where 1 represents the best rating. Additionally, a scoring system from 0 to 100 is utilized, with 100 indicating the highest possible score. Through Sustainable Fitch’s modular analysis framework, Trinasolar has earned an Entity Rating of 2, demonstrating the company’s outstanding overall ESG profile and the integration of ESG considerations into its business, strategy and management.
Sustainable Fitch has recognized Trinasolar as an “pure player” for its intrinsic and substantial contribution to climate change mitigation and clean energy transition. The assessment highlighted Trinasolar’s comprehensive environmental policies, transparent disclosures and unblemished record, with no critical environmental incidents reported over the past three years. The company also received high marks for its adequate environmental targets and effective management of supply chain environmental risks. Trinasolar’s factories in Yiwu, Zhejiang province, and in Dafeng district of Yancheng, Jiangsu province, have been designated zero-carbon factories by third-parties, while the Dafeng factory has been accorded a zero-waste landfill certificate. With innovation as the core driving force, Trinasolar has set and exceeded 30 world records in solar cell efficiency and module output.
In evaluating Trinasolar's social profile, Sustainable Fitch noted the company’s exemplary performance in human rights, labor practices and community engagement. The absence of critical social incidents over the past three years significantly contributed its social profile. The company has signed UNGC Women’s Empowerment Principles and obtained SA8000 certification. Trinasolar has been awarded top AA rating for supply chain traceability by TÜV Rheinland.
Sustainable Fitch’s comprehensive review of Trinasolar’s governance indicators, including risk management and internal audit, has affirmed the robustness of the company’s governance structure. The company has developed a four-tier ESG governance structure encompassing governance, management, execution and supervision. Furthermore, Trinasolar has also been granted ISO 37301:2021 certification for compliance management and ISO 37001 certification for anti-bribery management systems.
