The Vertex Compatibility Guide

With the growing application of 210mm cell photovoltaic (PV) high power solar in schemes, manufacturers of trackers and inverters have been bringing forward technical innovation to increase compatibility. The list of products compatible with Trina Solar’s Vertex high-power module range is growing across utility, commercial and residential solar applications. The list also demonstrates how the proactive, collaborative culture prominent in the solar industry seeks to improve wide-scale system efficiency.

Trina Solar has been at the forefront of this collaboration, launching the 600+ Photovoltaic Open Innovation Ecological Alliance in 2020. This forum created an environment to develop standardization of mounting systems for 210mm modules. We have seen significant developments in our Vertex high-power solar range, launching the 670W in 2021, our most powerful module to date and a gamechanger for increasing power yields while driving down costs.

As solar systems become more unified, this drives flexibility for projects and increases the appeal for investors. With optimized Balance of System (BOS) costs and the Levelized Cost of Energy (LCOE) is consistently being lowered, high-power solar systems are making solar energy more affordable than ever. This bankability secures the longer-term project pipeline for cleaner, future-proof power.

This guide lists the latest compatible solar trackers and inverters plus size guides for mounting and installation.

Trackers

There are several key considerations when choosing a tracker for a solar application. Project designers are looking for adaptability to the module configuration, whether one row or two, while ensuring reliability during a wide range of environmental and weather conditions. The low voltage and high current design of 210mm high power solar modules allows for a reduction in the number of strings, optimizing cable installation and maintenance. Tracker algorithms have become increasingly sophisticated,

Inverters

The inverter market has made a proactive transition to develop models adaptable to high currents. But we also know, our inverter partners consistently consider total system design, such as string formation, when developing products to leverage the energy yields from low voltage, high current PV modules. Plus, they understand the necessity of engineering the technology to deal with future module capability beyond what is currently on the market.

Mounting

Last May, solar industry experts, including Trina Solar, kicked off a process to agree the overall dimensions of modules and technical specifications of mounting holes for 210mm. This culminated in an official group standard for cell spacing, module size and mounting specifications. It now means 210 module manufacturers, end-users, and system solution providers have achieved uniformity in technical issues. Standardization of modules will significantly reduce BOS costs and LCOE and deliver the convenience and maximum value of ultra-high power modules and solutions to solar applications.

For 110 half cells (55 whole cells), the length is determined as 2384±2mm, the width as 1096±2mm, and the positions of the mounting holes in the long side are put at 400/1400±1mm. Following is a breakdown of the dimensions of the three 210 products:
