Trina Solar Co., Ltd recently announced the successful commercial operation of its Osato Solar Power Station project in Japan. The capacity of the project is 28 MW and it is located in the town of Osato in Kurokawa-gun, Miyagi Prefecture of Japan.

Trina Solar Japan Energy Co., Ltd. (“TSJE”), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Trina Solar Co., Ltd with headquarters in Tokyo, Japan has provided development and EPCM services for this project, and it will continue to provide its innovative O&M services during the power station’s 20-year operation period.

This extra high-voltage project has significantly passed the Performance Ratio Test, meaning that it will generate more electricity than the original design. The clean power generated by this project will approximately meet the annual consumption of over 6,500 local households.

David You, Vice President of Trina Solar and President of International System Business Unit commented: “Japan is a very important downstream market for us. It is our great pleasure that this project has successfully reached commercial operation, which is also demonstration of great teamwork.”

As a leading project developer and class asset provider, Trina Solar has connected over 45 solar projects with the aggregate total capacity of approximately 100 MW in Japan, and currently there are about 200 MW projects under construction also in Japan.

“In future, we will reinforce our leading position in the Japanese market, and make joint efforts with our global partners to bring clean energy to local communities.” said Carlos Garcia, TSJE Representative Director and Regional Head.
