Trina Solar just completed the construction of the 35MW Trung Son Solar Power Plant in Vietnam. The project has achieved commercial operation and is the company’s second utility scale solar plant in Vietnam following its 42MW Phong Phu project. Trina Solar served as a Turn-Key Solution provider wherein it developed, designed, constructed and connected the solar plant to the 110kV Grid of the Vietnamese Electricity Power Company EVN on time. The company now is in charge of the plant as it undergoes the Operation & Maintenance phase and takes care in securing the power plant’s safety and operational energy output.
Trung Son Solar Plant has a DC capacity of 35MW with an estimated power generation of 67,368 MWh per year, which is equivalent to what 35,700 average Vietnamese household consumes in a year. Considering the high temperature and humidity of the environment, the solar power system adopts bifacial-dual-glass modules with single-axis trackers to ensure optimum power generation capacity. Aside from that, it’s also equipped with a comprehensive O&M Solar Monitoring System which helps with fast troubleshooting and securing the highest possible Energy Production and Performance Ratio (PR) of the solar plant.
The plant is built on 40.5 hectares of land in Khanh Hoa province in south-central Vietnam with excellent sunshine resources about 25km away from Nha Trang which is the capital of Khanh Hoa province.
Vietnam is one of the recognized high potential renewable energy markets in the world, particularly in the Southeast Asia Region. Vietnamese electricity demand has significantly increased in line with its overall economic growth.
“We are proud about the turn-key completion of our second utility scale solar plant in Vietnam on time. The construction of this project started in August 2020, time limit was the huge challenge we faced. However, our APBU team finally accomplished the 35MW solar plant just after 4 months’ fighting. This is due not only to Trina Solar's years of experience in overseas downstream markets, but also to our successful localization strategy in Vietnam. We remain committed to continuously accelerating renewable energy development in local communities combining our technologies and experience in solar project development, financing, construction and operation”, said Simon Li, President and General Manager of Asia Pacific Business Unit (APBU) of Trina Solar.
