The continued use of fossil fuels such as coal, oil and gas have generated high levels of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions in our environment, contributing to climate change – altering weather patterns, rising sea levels and increasing ecological damage. Combating climate change is an urgency and an imperative for businesses and individuals alike.
Sustainable carbon-free energy solutions such as solar are crucial to slowing the pace of climate change and preventing further damage to the environment. On International Reducing CO2 Emissions Day, Todd Li, President of Trina Solar Asia Pacific, comments on the positive impact of solar energy and its contributions in accelerating a carbon free world.
According to GlobalData, Asia’s overall power capacity is forecast to see a continuous increase in renewable capacity, with 63% in 2035, compared to 40% in 2022. As the world’s leading smart energy total solution provider, Trina Solar is facilitating Asia Pacific’s adoption of solar energy by ramping up the production of solar modules, trackers, storages and solutions to meet growing demand and investment in solar in Asia-Pacific.
With net zero an imperative today, countries around the region are turning to solar energy to achieve their renewable energy goals. Solar is a safe and low-impact energy source which can be deployed easily.
As of September 30, 2022, Trina Solar has shipped more than 120 GW of modules to more than 100 countries and regions, generating about 162 TWh of clean electricity each year, which is equivalent to saving over 53 million tons of standard coal and reducing CO2 and sulfur dioxide (SO2) emissions by about 161.5 million tons and 4.86 million tons respectively – equivalent to planting 8.9 million trees – helping the world gradually transition away from relying on fossil fuels.
With our ‘Solar for All Mankind’ vision and customer-centric innovation, we continue to introduce breakthrough products and services, bringing to APAC markets not only the best but also the most reliable modules, trackers, and smart-energy solutions.
By developing new modules that deliver higher power and efficiency, Trina Solar ensures customers need fewer modules to deliver the same amount of power output, thereby maximizing their return on investment and lowering levelized cost of energy (LCOE).
The International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) estimates that 90 percent of the world’s electricity can and should come from renewable energy by 2050. Asia-Pacific continues to dominate the Rooftop Solar PV Market and is increasingly embracing renewable energy options for homes, business, and power plants.
