For the first time in history, solar-power generation has outpaced wind-powered energy sources in California.

According to Vaisala, a global leader in environmental and industrial measurement, California obtained more of its energy from solar panels than from wind energy in 2015.

Grid-connected, utility-scale solar generation in California has grown 15 fold over the past five years. In total, the Golden State has seen its share of solar-powered energy generation jump from one thousand gigawatt hours in 2011 to a staggering fifteen thousand five-hundred ninety-two gigawatt hours in 2015. This amounted to 6.7 percent of the system total and exceeded wind-generated power’s 5.3 percent. At Trina Solar, we’re dedicated to helping grow the clean, renewable solar energy sector in California.
