Trinasolar (“Trinasolar” or “the company”), a global leader in smart PV technology and energy storage solutions, has obtained Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) Norway and EPD International certification for its Vertex S+ rooftop module series. Both validations were carried out by TÜV Rheinland. This means that Trinasolar’s entire Vertex n-type dual-glass portfolio has now received European EPD certifications, and further highlights the company’s commitment to protecting the environment and contributing to a sustainable future.
The EPD certification is an internationally recognised third-party verification report based on ISO 14025. Through a rigorous analysis of data, it tracks full-process environmental impact of the whole product lifecycle from cradle to grave, including raw material sourcing, manufacturing and processing, transportation, production utility and recycling.
TÜV Rheinland carried out rigorous investigation on Trinasolar’s Vertex S+ series modules. When awarded, this certification not only highlights a company's commitment to sustainability, but it also provides investors and owners with authoritative environmental performance figures to inform their decision-making.
Gonzalo de la Viña, President Europe at Trinasolar, commented: “It is a great honour for our Vertex S+ rooftop modules to secure the EPD Norway and EPD International certification. We’re passionate about ensuring that our modules and entire production cycle are as sustainable as they can possibly be. Vertex S+ is literally the future of rooftop solar, both in terms of environmental and product performance.”
Vertex S+ is the first rooftop module series on the market to feature a robust but lightweight dual-glass structure, combined with n-type i-TOPCon cells for top performance and lowest degradation. Dual-glass designs are highly reliable and offer perfect protection over decades while minimising stress on the cells. The extended 30-year performance warranty and 25-year product warranty are proof of Trinasolar’s trust in its dual-glass technology and long-term performance of n-type cells. Also, Vertex dual-glass modules boast enhanced fire safety, while omitting the backsheet reduces the use of plastics. This further improves the module’s environmental footprint and recyclability at the end of its lifetime.
Trinasolar is an industry leader in low-carbon practices. In January 2024, Trinasolar’s Vertex N modules received ISO 14067 certification on carbon footprint from UL Solutions as well as EPD Italy certification, while TrinaTracker was recently granted a carbon footprint certification from Bureau Veritas for its manufacturing plant in Viana, Spain. In addition, in 2023 Trinasolar’s Yiwu manufacturing facility was certified as a Zero Carbon Factory – the first factory in the PV industry to be awarded zero-carbon status by an independent agency.
De la Viña continued, “We are very proud of the fact our entire Vertex n-type dual-glass portfolio is now recognised to European EPD standards, which represents a major achievement for the company. We look forward to continuing our mission for the months and years to come, embracing best practices and the latest innovations to deliver smarter solutions for projects of all sizes in Europe and beyond.”
