Antelope Valley School District in California was facing major budget issues that threatened layoffs and school closures. As part of a plan for long-term savings, the district took advantage of its abundant sunshine and installed one of the largest school solar systems in the country.

The roof and ground-mounted system is expected to supply 80 percent of the total electricity for the district's schools. The system was developed by PsomasFMG in partnership with Trina Solar and Wells Fargo Bank with a power purchase agreement sold to GCL Solar. In addition to supplying clean, sustainable energy, the solar installation serves as an important teaching aid for students learning about renewable energy.
